Thanks to all who came and supported Pedro Pietri at The Nuyorican
Poets Cafe. It was big turn out, lots of amazing poetry

Then SW had a great time celebrating the birthday for The Off-
Off Broadway Community Dish an organization of off off b'way theatre
producers that meet and eat once a month. We've gotten a lot of
support from them and we're pleased to announce that our Artistic
Director just became a board member. www.communitydish.org
Smokin' Word recently held a little experimental gathering at Ma-ya a
fabulous Thai fusion place on 4th Street between Ave A and B that
features amazing food, beautiful clothes for sale, and a groovy
performance space. The goal was to pool our collective knowledge to
create and submit demo tapes to HBO Def poetry Jam. Our Video Artist
Abeni taped the poets and then made professional demo tapes with beautiful
titles and everything, which were then hand delivered them to HBO. Poet Lamb has
been cast and is taping this week and we are all very happy for him!!
It's great when we can help each other out. We reccomend you try and see the
live HBO taping. It's an amazing show!
We'd also like to take this time to welcome new members actress:
