Smokin' WordThis year was Smokin' Words second Script This! event. We had the chance to perfect the form of what we have come to call Theatre Mixtape. We presented fully staged 5-10 minute exerpts of the plays with freestylers Glenn Gordon and Dyalekt rhyming about the playwrights and plays and DJ Milk Money spinning in the background.

How do you talk to someone who you know will disagree with everything you say?  Is it even worth the effort?  We as humans do not tend to surround ourselves with other humans who we don't have anything in common with.  Why would we?  Being around people who are "different" just inspires conflict, hurt feelings, and often anger.  Best for creatives to stay with creatives, conservatives to stay with conservatives, the red to stay with the red, the blue to stay with the blue.   But as the old adage goes, you just can't pick your family in
COME BACK TO ME.

• Glenn Gordon

is an actor, writer, and emcee originally from Baltimore , MD. He has performed in several plays such as Hieroglyphic Graffiti, Deep Azure, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Six Hits, and Rhyme Deferred. Glenn is a member of the Hip Hop Theatre Junction and co-founder of the Negro Ensemble Company's Playwright's Lab. Glenn is currently at work on a hip hop theatre trilogy entitled The Way of Sound . He received his BFA in acting from Howard University. In this years Script This! he presents an exerpt of ENTER THE SILENCE.
