Phoenix Soleil is a poet, performer, playwright raised by
Haitians in East Flatbush, Brooklyn . She describes her writing as
emotional realism, putting feelings at the center and letting
reality drip and drop around them. She is the author of "Waves"
and "But if I did". Her essay "Feminist Musing on the No. 3 Train"
was published in the anthology "Colonize This!: Young Women of Color
on Today's Feminism, and the play "Broken By Way Of" workshopped with Smokin WordShop the hip-hop spoken word playwrights workshop. She has written, directed and edited "After
911: the Media Coverage", the satire "Judy Sings the Classics" and
edited the short documentary "Looking at Emmanuel Merisier". You can
listen to her music and poetry on the compilation CD "Brooklyn to
Harlem: Upward Movement".
